HEALTH MAINTENANCE RESULTS IN DISEASE PREVENTION

We love our possessions, and rightfully, we take good care of them. For example, we bring our car to the service once a year, download the new software needed for our mobile phones or computers, renovate our homes, take care of our clothes, and polish our shoes, but what about our health maintenance? Do we take the necessary steps to maintain our physical and mental health? Indeed, very few people take care properly of their biggest asset: HEALTH.

WHAT IS A HEALTHY BODY?

In truth, we all have a different perception of what health is , which is determined by our own experiences and expectations. Many are convinced that their genes or even age are jeopardizing their health. Of course, there are such cases, but the average person is simply not treating his body in the way he should. Regardless of age or genes expression (EPIGENETICS: YOUR ACTIONS HAVE AN IMPACT ON YOUR GENES) , a healthy person should be able to maintain normal blood glucose levels and blood pressure, healthy weight, balanced hormones, sleep soundly, enjoy a great digestive system, brain performance, and physical activities. Please don’t fall victim to sayings such as “age with grace or accept aging”; those are just a free pass to get lazy! Of course, age affects our body, but to the extent that people believe. Don’t be that person who blames it on their age that they can’t exercise or do this or that. You can do anything you want should you give your body what it needs.

We often ignore when our body is communicating with us. Pain is how our biology says something is wrong, just like the car system urges you to change the oil. However, we live a fast life, and we need a quick solution to the pain: medications! Aspirin for the headache, an acid reflux blocker,  a sleeping pill for sleepless nights,  blood thinners, and anti-depressant and on and on. But are those pills fixing the cause of the problem? No, they are simply treating the symptom, so you will need the medications forever. Should we take a different approach: address our individual nutritional needs and polish our insides, disease prevention will naturally occur. You may ask, “Is food that important ? “. Food is what we intake the most after oxygen and water; therefore, it’s the main factor for our health outcome. It’s like a car: give it the wrong fuel, and it won’t work.

WHAT HAPPENS IF WE DON’T MAINTAIN WHAT WE HAVE BEEN GIVEN

Diseases may take a few decades to develop fully. For example, type two diabetes may take two decades to finally fully manifest itself. However, in those two decades, the individual’s blood sugar will be elevated over the norms more than accepted. In this scenario, health will be slowly but surely in decline. Our body will do anything it can to maintain homeostasis, but at what price? And more importantly, who will foot the bill?: The person who chose to ignore his own body necessities.
